This was taken last weekend and this weekend storms will probably have beat the tender flower stalks down. Looks like another year of 'snaking' flowers crawling through the folliage. I don't think staking would help.

i used to be into the idea of hiding vegetables in my kids' food. then jessica came out with her wink wink book. and even putting aside the controversy over whether she stole the whole idea, jeez, anything jessica seinfeld does, i DON'T do.

If this was lettuce we'd pinch the tops. I want to see the flowers so I'll let it go. Not sure yet how far I'll cut them back after.

All of the tallest heads are preparing to flower. You may have to view large to see the flowers forming between the leaves.

You can see the unusually shaped flowers (which will be chartreuse) forming between the puprle calyxes (sp?).

This is the cloud forrest plant/tree "Telanthaphora grandifolia". The flowers on a mature plant are really impressive. I'm eager to see what my little 5 foot munchkin can do.
